It is the fifth pillar of Islam, as the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Islam is built on five pillars: the testimony that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, establishing prayer, paying zakat, fasting Ramadan, and performing the Hajj to the House for those who are able to do so.” Hajj is an individual obligation on every adult Muslim who is able.
